The Australian Bureau of StatisticsThis site offers a wide range of statistics related to Income distribution. Average Weekly earnings and current company profit figures can all be found here. Occaisonally when the Bureau's report on Income Distribution is updated Gini Co efficient tables may be found in the section on Income and Welfare in the Current Year Book. Usually when a new Income Distribution survey is undertaken the ABS will produce a special article on it. Special Article - Poverty and Deprivation in Australia (Year Book Australia, 1996) The ABS's Household income survey is also available in part online.
National Centre for Social and Economic Modelling, University of Canberra NATSEM publishes many of its working, conference papers and presentations online. Its major report on income distribution is only available to subscribers however many useful statistics can be gleaned quite quickly from its publications and often summaries of recent findings may be found in its news letter.
Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research From the Insitute of Applied Economic and Social Research at Melbourne University offers a social monitor to subscribers which contains a great deal of current material relevant to income distribution. Further the Insitute's press releases and working papers frequently contain current material on this topic.
The Brotherhood of St Lawrence The Brotherhoods poverty and unemployment fact sheets as well as a host of related publications are available for download from the Publications section of their site. Teachers should also inspect BSL campaign material and their journal. These usually contain statistics and comment pertinent to inequality in Australia.

Australian Institute of Criminology This site carries a wide range of information on crime in Australia. Of particular interest to economic educators will be the sections carrying data on profiles of criminals. There is a clear relationship between income level and participation in crime.Teachers wishing to explore other social issues such as car theft and insurance related matters will find many useful stats here and many interesting issues such as the social cost of poverty and the opportunity costs involved etc. The site is kept up to date and hence when black market issues arise in the popular press it often carries the appropriate stats.

National Ageing Research Institute - Home This site is a medical research insitute at Melbourne University which offers details of centre's programs as well some useful links into the medical aspects of aging.
Council on the Ageing - Welcome! This site offers a vast array of information relevant to the economics of aging. Social Policy Research Centre The Social Policy Research Centre is a research centre of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of New South Wales. The SPRC conducts research and fosters discussion on all aspects of social policy in Australia.
